The Royal William Yard, Plymouth

Starting in 1996 we were involved with the stonework repairs and restoration within this historic former Naval victualling yard. Under various contracts with national building contractors and in direct contracts with the South West of England Regional Development Agency, we completed approximately £7 million worth of work on this site. The works consisted of a combination of stone cleaning, conservation, repairs and replacement of Plymouth limestone and Cornish granite. Numerous very large and heavy structural stones needed to be replaced (some weighing as much as 3 tonnes). Major temporary support works were required in order to replace these elements of the various buildings on this site.
We won 2 national awards from the Stone Federation Great Britain for our work and were voted sub-Contractor of the year 2004.
